The Marabu crackle medium is a colourless water-based medium for crackling (ribbing technique). In the process, cracks appear in the top layer of paint, so that the underlying paint shows through. Especially with the decoupage technique, rustic effects are created. Suitable surfaces for this technique include wood, metal, glass, terracotta, canvases, ceramics, porcelain and modelling clay.
